CORP, Harriet. Cottage Sketches (1812)
Contemporary Reviews
Monthly Review, 2nd ser. 69 (Sept 1812): 97.
Much religious reflection is displayed in these volumes, and they
may be useful as containing various examples of the comfort and
practicability of active benevolence: but it is difficult to determine
for what class of readers they are calculated, since the language
is not sufficiently correct to insure attention from cultivated
minds; while the story of a masquerade in a farm-house, and the
other absurdities of Miss Jones, are so extravagant that we hope
they are needless as a warning to persons in a humbler sphere.
